Regional plans
We are supporting the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations to develop Regional Workforce Transition Plans. These plans will provide transition supports to workers, their families and communities that are significantly impacted by facility closures. by Australia’s transition to a net zero economy.
In the lead up to a power station closing in a region, we will also undertake an assessment process. The assessment will determine if extra support is needed for power station workers under the Energy Industry Jobs Plan.
Regional Workforce Transition Plans
Regional Workforce Transition Plans will help coordinate employment and skills supports to enable regions to manage the impact of closures while maximising the benefits of the transition.
Energy Industry Jobs Plan
The Energy Industry Jobs Plan (the EIJP) provides support directly to workers to prepare for and transition into a new job when eligible coal-fired or gas-fired power stations close.
