Privacy at the Net Zero Economy Authority

The Net Zero Economy Authority (NZEA) recognises the importance of privacy and the protection of personal information. We handle your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Privacy Act). Under the Privacy Act, NZEA can only collect information for purposes that are reasonably necessary for, or directly related to, NZEA’s functions and activities

NZEA's Privacy Policy applies to all of our activitiesthat involve the management of personal information (whether digitally, in paper form or otherwise) by any staff or any contracted service providers on behalf of NZEA. The Privacy Policy also sets out: 

  • the kinds of personal information NZEA collects and holds
  • how that information is collected and managed by NZEA
  • the purposes for which NZEA collects, holds, uses and discloses personal information, and
  • how to apply to NZEA for access to, and correction of, your personal information, as well as how to make a complaint if you consider that we have breached our privacy obligations under the Privacy Act. 

It also explains how NZEA will deal with such applications and complaints. 

Privacy Collection Notices

NZEA publishes Privacy Collection Notices to explain how personal information is managed when supporting the Energy Industry Jobs Plan (EIJP) and Community of Interest (COI) processes under the Net Zero Economy Authority Act 2024 (Cth). These notices outline the types of information collected, why it is collected, and how it may be used or disclosed in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

Commercial-in-confidence information

NZEA publishes the EIJP Commercial in Confidence Notice to explain how commercial-in-confidence information is managed as part of the EIJP process and NZEA's statutory functions under the Net Zero Economy Authority Act 2024 (Cth). 

The notice outlines the types of commercial-in-confidence information collected, why it is collected and how it may be used or disclosed in accordance with the Net Zero Economy Authority Act 2024 (Cth) and the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) Register

The Net Zero Economy Authority’s PIA Register is published pursuant to section 15(1) of the Privacy (Australian Government Agencies Governance) APP Code 2017, made under the Privacy Act 1988.

A PIA is an assessment of a project/activity that identifies potential impacts on the privacy of individuals and provides recommendations to manage, minimise or eliminate those impacts.

The PIA register below sets out the PIA’s completed since our establishment on 11 December 2024. The PIA register will be updated as new PIAs are completed.
