The report includes recommendations and additional actions directed to the NZEA, the NZEA Board and the Australian Government.

The NZEA and the NZEA Board have accepted the recommendations related to their functions and responsibilities and have commenced implementation.

The Government is considering the report in full, and the recommendations and additional actions directed to it.

What is the Energy Industry Jobs Plan?

The EIJP establishes a legislative framework that ensures employees at closing coal- and gas-fired power stations can access supports from their employers to transition to new employment. This framework can also extend to businesses within the supply chain and are substantially impacted by the power station closure. The EIJP is established by Part 5 of the Net Zero Economy Authority Act 2024, which commenced on 11 December 2024.
