Review of the Energy Industry Jobs Plan – submissions published
Consultations for the review of the Energy Industry Jobs Plan (EIJP) have come to an end and the written submissions have now been published on our consultation hub.
Thank you to everyone who made a submission – workers, unions, employers, communities, industry and academia. Your feedback will inform the review, which will help make sure the EIJP is successful in supporting workers and regions impacted by Australia’s energy transition.
The review is now in its next phase: analysis and drafting a report. Emeritus Professor Roy Green AM will complete the final report by 10 December 2025. The report will be delivered to Senator the Hon. Tim Ayres, Minister for Industry and Innovation and Minister for Science, and the CEO of the Net Zero Economy Authority.
The consultation process invited feedback on how effectively the EIJP is operating, whether its design can be strengthened and how it might better serve workers, regions and employers in future transitions.
The consultation process included:
- written submissions via the consultation hub
- targeted stakeholder meetings and virtual sessions
- regional visits to hear directly from communities affected by coal- and gas-fired power station closures.
The EIJP was created to support workers affected by the retirement of coal- and gas-fired power stations, helping them reskill, transition, and find new employment.
This review is a critical opportunity to make sure the EIJP works as Parliament intended, especially in regions bearing the greatest energy transition pressures.
Insights from the review will help strengthen the design of supports for workers and communities facing future power station closures.

We will publish the final report on our website once it is tabled in Parliament.
