Most of the contracts listedcontaingeneralconfidentiality provisionsof a generalnature. Theseprovisionsare designed to protectparties’ confidentialinformation that may be obtained or generated in carrying out the contract.   

The reasons for includingsuch clauses include: 

  • ordinary commercial prudence that requires protection of trade secrets, proprietaryinformationand the like,and
  • protection of other Commonwealth material and personal information.
