Northern Water

South Australia is home to more than two-thirds of Australia’s copper resources. The South Australian Government is investigating options to support increased copper production and processing, including through the development of the Northern Water Project.

The Northern Water project aims to provide a new, climate independent water source for the Far North, Upper Spencer Gulf and Eastern Eyre Peninsula regions of South Australia, to enable the growth of industries crucial to achieving net-zero goals, including copper and hydrogen production.

The Australian Government has invested $65 million to support this important piece of infrastructure, crucial to expanding the green economy of South Australia.
