The Australian Government is seeking highly respected leaders to help guide one of the nation’s most significant industrial and economic transitions through board appointments to the Net Zero Economy Authority (NZEA).

The NZEA is an independent statutory authority with a critical mandate: supporting Australia’s industrial regions, communities and workers as the economy transitions to net zero, while safeguarding economic resilience, regional prosperity and public value.

The NZEA Board is the accountable authority responsible for setting strategic direction and ensuring effective stewardship of public resources. It oversees NZEA’s performance in accordance with the Net Zero Economy Act and Commonwealth governance standards.

The Department of Industry, Science and Resources welcomes expressions of interest from senior leaders with strong standing and experience across areas such as:

• corporate and public governance
• industry, manufacturing, finance or investment
• energy markets, decarbonisation or climate policy
• labour markets, industrial relations or workforce transition
• regional development, Indigenous advocacy or community leadership.

Applications close: 28 May
Location: Australiawide
Appointment: Parttime appointments, up to 5 years

This is a rare opportunity to contribute at board level to Australia’s energy transition and the longterm success of Australia’s regions and industries.

Senior leaders with a strong commitment to independent public governance are encouraged to apply or share with suitable candidates.
