The Net Zero Economy Authority (the Authority) Board held its sixth meeting in the Latrobe Valley over 2 days. The Board met with stakeholders to deepen the Authority’s understanding of local priorities and concerns in the region. The Board visited the Yallourn mine site as part of the time spent in the Latrobe Valley.

The Gunaikurnai Land and Waters Aboriginal Corporation facilitated a Welcome to Country by local Elder Michelle Dowd.

The Board reviewed the declared interests of members and confirmed there were no conflicts with matters under consideration at the meeting.

The Chair updated the Board on the third meeting of the Stakeholder Panel, which he chaired on 7 October 2025. 

Updates on the Authority's activities in priority regions were noted by the Board and the Board discussed the industrial, workforce and engagement opportunities that the Authority could drive and lead to support these regions.

Emeritus Professor Roy Green AM provided an update on the Energy Industry Jobs Plan Review to the Board.

The progress on the design and delivery of the Energy Industry Jobs Plan was discussed by the Board, including the development of a program logic to underpin the EIJP Monitoring and Evaluation Framework, and consultations currently underway to inform the design of the EIJP redeployment grants program. 

The Board reviewed progress on the Authority’s regional transition monitoring and reporting framework and commissioned further work to finalise the design parameters and reporting measures.  

The Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee provided an update to the Board, highlighting the approved Internal Audit Work Plan 2025–26. The Board also considered the Enterprise Risk Register and agreed additional risk treatments, and that it would review the Enterprise Risk Register settings again at its December 2025 meeting

The updated Communications Strategy and communication priorities were discussed by the Board. As part of this discussion the Board reaffirmed the Authority’s role as an independent, regionally focused, voice supporting workers, communities and industry for an orderly and positive economic transition to net zero emissions.

The Board will meet next in Sydney on 10 December.
