ALPHA HPA first project
Alpha HPA (High Purity Alumina) has secured $400 million in new loans to deliver Australia’s first high-purity alumina processing facility in Gladstone, Queensland.
Currently under construction, the project will be one of the largest single-site HPA refineries globally, capable of producing over 10,000 tonnes of ultra-high-purity aluminium products and premium aluminium materials per year.
The Alpha HPA Precursor Production Facility uses a solvent extraction and refining technology to produce ultra-high purity aluminium materials in commercial quantities. The aluminium materials produced are essential components to decarbonisation technologies such as lithium-ion batteries, LED lighting and displays, synthetic sapphire and semi-conductors.
The first stage of the facility operates 24/7, runs on 100% renewable energy and has created 34 full time jobs in the local community with 40% of those occupied by women.
